Muzza lays down the facts in women’s equality saga!

An interesting article I read this week was Andy Murray’s piece for the BBC (Full link at bottom of page). In this, he talks about how Women make the same sacrifices as their male counterparts in the game. Here is an extract from it:

“People often underestimate the amount of work that it takes to become a top tennis player. And that work ethic is the same whether you are a man or a woman. There are hours spent in the gym, on court, in physio, travelling, analysing matches and opponents, talking with your team, managing your body, and of course, making plenty of sacrifices. Anyone who has spent any time with any of the top women will know that they make those same sacrifices and are as determined and committed to winning as any of the top men on the tour”.

Nail and head again from Murray, this little write-up sums up perfectly how ridiculous it is to base the argument on ”men play 5 sets, women play 3″ rubbish! The time spent on court is minor in comparison to all the hard work and preparation that goes on off it, irrespective of whether you are male or female. Is there a stronger case that can be put forward than that? I don’t think so!

He also says in the article, that he got to see first hand how Amelie Mauresmo was treated differently when his coach, due to being a female. It is shocking to think that this is still the case, but Murray says it is improving and that tennis as a Sport, is doing all it can to get things on par! Like he said, it is what made him aware of the problem at the time though!

Once again, Murray just says it as it is! Big Fan! Honest and truthful! When he feels strongly about something he lets people know. As is the case here, he says he would find it hard to look any of the top female players in the eye if he didn’t speak his mind. Even if it goes against the grain it won’t stop him and I love that! Murray speaks a lot of sense though and can back up his arguments! It has also been noted how he gets on very well with Nick Kyrgios and how he acts as support for him! That certainly goes against the grain right now for most! Fair play!

The bottom line is, whatever Muzza says it is worth listening to!
