It is always nice to build up a bit of a portfolio. These are the players I will be keeping tabs on and adding to my CV if I feel the need from now until the start of the championships. This can obviously change and you need to be flexible but this is my early shortlist of players to follow. It will be the fastest fingers from there on in.

 

 The obvious dangers to the big three.

Daniil Medvedev (14/1 Skybet and Boyles) and Sascha Zverev (25/1 Bet365, 22/1 general).

Taking the surface into consideration, these are the two I would be thinking would be looking to make the big inroads. It isn’t the biggest of calls but both have looked like they can do well on the surface and look to be closing the gap on the big three. Thiem is making the biggest inroads but you feel the French will be a major target for him and maybe one of these two can capitalise. I also think Tsitsipas is a little more vulnerale on grass for the time being.

 

Around the 100/1 mark. For those players who have some form at this level.

Roberto Bautista Agut (100/1 Hills and Betfred/Tote).

Having tipped him up in my preview (Wimbledon 2019 Preview, quarter by quarter.) last year for the quarter and backing him at 200/1 on the outright, the Spaniard won his quarter and made Nole sweat for periods of their semi-final. His flat and consistent groundstrokes look well suited to the surface and his work ethic is second to none. You feel RBA could easily reach a final of a slam and why not at Wimbledon? Such as an underrated player.

 

Grigor Dimitrov/Matteo Berrettini (80/1 quite general).

You just want to keep this in the back of your mind. Dimitrov was always tipped to do well on grass and as ‘Baby Fed’ you would expect that to be the case. Grigor is the sort of player who can put a run together from nowhere as he did at Wimbledon in 2014. Keep monitoring his form. The same can be said of Matteo Berrettini who has a huge game, it is worth seeing how he goes in the next few months and getting a feel for his form. Absolutely hacked up in Stuttgart last year on the surface. Made the fourth round after this at SW19, losing to Federer.

 

 200/1 or bigger. Players who have shown promise.

There are several players here I will be keeping an eye on. These are obviously big prices but if you think a player could potentially sneak into a quarter-finals, you would want to be on him at these prices and these players have the potential to do that.

 

Dan Evans (a general 200/1).

Proven grass-court player and his games suits well to the surface. He was very unlucky to not make the last 16 last year and came in off the back of wins in Surbiton and Nottingham. Evo also reached the last 32 in 2016, when he beat Struff and Dolgolpolov before running into Roger Federer. He has flown back up the rankings and will not be anyone’s choice of draw at SW19.

 

Jannik Sinner (300/1 Unibet/888 Sport). 

At 18 years of age, this would be a huge ask but the lad has unquestionable talent as he proved in the Next Gen in Milan. Did ok considering last season on the surface and has the potential, standing at 6ft3. 

 

Miomir Kecmanovic (500/1 Unibet/888 Sport).

Purely based on the price this is worth monitoring. The Serb is 20-years-old and made the final in Antalya last year. Obviously a very good player in the making, I’m still not sure about him over 5 sets at the moment but he is 500/1. A flashy shot-maker and good to watch.
